Description

One-component water-based intumescent paint for fire protection of steel structures, in open profiles (I and H). It expands under the action of heat, developing an insulating foam that thermally protects the substrate, and delays the heat reaching the support.

- Provides fire resistance in metal structures up to R90 to open profiles.

- Quick drying and repainting. Unlimited recoatability.

- Application in interiors and also in semi-exposed exteriors if it is repainted with an appropriate enamel.

- Suitable for steel previously primed with a compatible primer.

- For workshop work, new construction and maintenance in rural, urban and industrial environments.

Calculation of needs

VERY IMPORTANT: This product is a professional product and requires a calculation of layers for each type of metal profile exposed to fire according to the evacuation time needs of the project. If you want a calculation of the structure to be painted, the following documentation must be provided by email:

1.- Fire resistance time required by the project - R15, R30, R60, R90, R120 or R180

2.- Detailed list of all exposed profiles that must be painted with the following data:

- Type of standardized profile: IPE, IPN, HEB, etc.

- Profile dimension, IPE300, HEB200, etc.

- Profile length and quantity of them.

- Exposed faces to be painted.

Once the necessary amount of paint has been calculated, the price of the container can be adjusted according to the quantity. The material will be delivered with a certification issued by Titan Industries of the number of cans that have been served in the work to be carried out.

Fields of application

To be applied indoors and also in semi-exposed exteriors if it is repainted with an appropriate enamel. Suitable for steel previously primed with a compatible primer. For workshop, new construction and maintenance jobs in rural, urban and industrial environments.

How to use

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS:

The surfaces to be painted must be clean of dust, grease and oil, dry and consistent. Homogenize the product with mechanical agitation before use. Make sure there are no pigment traces on the bottom. Adjust the viscosity, if necessary with water (max 3%). Before each use you must clean the gun with water. Water Intumescent Paint A80 IX 080 must always be applied over a compatible anti-corrosive primer. Always paint at a temperature 3ºC higher than the dew point. Intumescent paint in contact with moisture decomposes.

Before painting, consult the Water Intumescent Paints Application Guide. </ span>

Steel: recommended to prepare the surface up to grade Sa 2 ½ of the ISO 8501-1 standard or at least manual or mechanical cleaning to grade ST3 of the same standard. Apply the authorized primer and finish with the micron rating of the A80 IX 080 Water Intumescent Paint, according to the profile and required resistance, prescribed by the Project Management.

If the surfaces are already primed, the primer should appear normal, dry, and free of contaminants. It is recommended to carry out a compatibility test beforehand. On surfaces already prepared with zinc primers (Epoxies Rich in Zinc or Zinc Silicates), the surface must be clean, dry and free of zinc salts. Any damage to the surface must be repaired before applying the Water Intumescent Paint A80 IX 080.

The total dry film thickness of the primer layer should in no case exceed 150 microns.

The most suitable system for applying the A80 IX 080 Water Intumescent Paint is airless spraying (it is recommended to remove the filters), achieving up to 750µ dry per coat by means of several consecutive crossed passes. Brushing can also be accepted for small surfaces although the resulting appearance will be finished with grooves and brush marks. Roller application is not recommendedgives.

The final thickness of Intumescent Paint will be defined by the massiveness and fire resistance of the profile to be painted and will be determined according to the A80 IX 080 Water Intumescent Paint certificate.

All the enamels in our Professional / Industrial range (except chlorine rubber) can be applied on the A80 IX 080 Water Intumescent Paint, as long as the thickness is not excessive (<90µ) as it can influence the protection performance against fire ( limit expansion of intumescent paint).
